DECA Officers are elected by their peers at the State Career Development Conference and represent Alabama’s membership. The State Officer team develops a program of work aligned to the strategic goals of DECA. Throughout the year the team interacts with the membership to implement and enhance DECA programs.
Meet The Team
My name is Ben Turberville, I am the Alabama DECA Association President. I attend Demopolis High School where I am active with my local DECA chapter and play tennis on the Varsity Men’s team. I also participate in YouthLead, theatre, the peer leader group, paint, and sing for my youth praise band at my church.
GOALS: My goals for Alabama DECA are to bring more community awareness to the state level. I hope to lead individual chapters with team leadership skills, teach students the importance of community and leadership development, create more diversity programs with the growth of every student, host community groups and to make connections with new businesses. I also hope to implement new state action projects that will impact our state and country.

Associate Vice President
Hi I’m Hannah Hickman, the Alabama Association Vice President and am currently a Sophomore at Spain Park High School. I am also a cheerleader at my school and in the French Club. As an active member in my local DECA chapter, I enjoy helping plan fun events and activities for our chapter.
GOALS: My goal as Vice President is to involve more people. I hope to do so by visiting schools/ doing zoom calls to share with members how exciting and rewarding DECA is. I also would like to plan something members could attend in the fall that would be fun and help build the excitement of attending CDC. In-person events effect people’s views of DECA and I want to help celebrate DECA in Alabama.
